About UsEquine Association of Yukon (EAY) is the umbrella organization for all equestrian activities in the Yukon. It is a not-for-profit sport governing body, otherwise known as a Territorial Sport Organization (TSO), which provides leadership, education and support to individuals, associations, and businesses in Yukon’s horse community.
As a TSO, governed under the Yukon Recreation Act, EAY is responsible for the development of coaches and officials as well as athletes. Its affiliation with Equestrian Canada gives a direct communication link, allowing Yukon to participate and have an active voice in issues of local grass-roots participation and competition as well as horse health and welfare. EAY is able to provide administrative support to enable local equestrians to achieve NCCP Certification as Competition Coaches or Instructors of Beginners, here at home in Yukon. Yukon riders benefit by having local access to structured and standardized English and Western riding instruction. The Equestrian Canada “Learn to Ride Program” is self-paced and student/coach led. EAY also acts as the licensing agent for Equestrian Canada sanctioned bronze level competitions, allowing Yukon riders the opportunity to gain experience being judged by Equestrian Canada officials. EAY also acts as the liaison between Equestrian Canada, Yukon Agriculture Branch and the Yukon Chief Veterinary Office on issues of equine health and welfare. In order to better serve the entire Yukon horse community, EAY sponsors the Yukon Directory Listings. The purpose of the listings is to have one place to list all horse related activities in the Yukon. |
